What do you think are the main trends in process management?

At Improven, we continuously develop and optimise processes at customers. Process management is changing at lightning speed and organisations are faced with the challenge of moving faster and more efficiently. Whether it is AI, agile process management, or the integration of sustainability into processes, these trends are having an impact. We have trends and are curious to hear your opinion. What do you think are the most important trends in process management? Let your voice be heard!

1.      Process implementation using games and simulations to experience more

Process simulations and process games are in renewed demand as popular ways of engaging people in process innovation. Real insights come from visualising it, being an active part of it, feeling and experiencing it, and being inspired by it.

2.      More focus on real-time data as an accelerator for process improvement

The pace of process improvement depends on data maturity; data must be accessible and of high quality. Real-time visibility into performance, quality, and remediation is becoming crucial for process improvement. No insights, business cases or risk management are possible without good data.

3.      Work happiness as a criterion for process design

Adding customer value has long been the ideal for good processes, but work happiness is becoming increasingly important. Companies are discovering that efficient processes can contribute to work happiness by enabling more meaning, freedom, stronger relationships and making best use of talents. The focus is shifting from efficiency to social factors, with processes gaining value by promoting connectedness and meaning. Employees' work happiness thus becomes an important criterion for successful processes.

4.      A major role for AI in process execution, monitoring and improvement

New technologies like AI and robots are going to play a bigger role play by taking over or supporting existing tasks in processes. This increases efficiency and reduces human error. In addition, with the rise of AI, not only is executive work being taken over, but also its control. An AI controller ensures that people get all the information they need about their organisation's performance. Where human analysis is currently required for process and data mining, this will soon be possible fully automatically.

5.      Agile gets a bigger role in process management

Agile Process Management is a trend in which the principles of the agile method are applied to business processes. This means that instead of making major changes all at once, processes are continuously evaluated and improved incrementally. This makes it possible to respond quickly to changes in the market, technology or customer needs.

6.      Deployment of "Digital Twins" expands: virtual replicas for real-time monitoring and predictive analysis

Digital twins are digital virtual versions of physical processes or systems. They are used to monitor processes in real time, run simulations and predict future performance and potential problems.

7.      Use of 'Do It Yourself Automation' increases

Process owners engage in automation themselves by using simple and accessible tools. This reduces frustration by avoiding complex systems and offers more flexibility and speed in automating activities and processes.

8.      Customer Experience as a driver for process optimisation

Processes are increasingly geared towards improving customer experience, leading to higher customer satisfaction and loyalty.

9.      Lean & Green: using process management to achieve sustainability targets

More and more organisations are deploying process management to achieve sustainability goals. By effectively optimising and automating business processes, companies can operate more sustainably and reduce their ecological footprint. Think of more efficient use of raw materials, lower energy consumption and minimising waste streams. In addition, by streamlining processes, companies can better integrate their sustainability strategy into day-to-day operations.

10.  The importance of chain management and monitoring is increasing

The importance of supply chain management and monitoring is growing. Organisations are increasingly dependent on complex supply chains. Effective monitoring of these chains ensures better cooperation, increased transparency and faster problem resolution. This contributes to risk management, increased efficiency and ensuring continuity in dynamic market conditions.

11.  Design Thinking is increasingly used for process design and improvement

Design Thinking in process optimisation offers a people-centred, creative approach to solving complex problems. It fosters collaboration and innovation through co-creation, breaking established patterns and improving processes in a sustainable way. It combines effortlessly with methodologies such as Lean, Scrum and Agile for flexible, efficient solutions that put users at the centre.

12.  Another trend, namely....

Of course, there are other trends in process management. We would love to hear these from you via the poll.
