After now four hectic months, the Corona situation is stabilising somewhat. Gradually, the consequences are becoming more and more visible. A collective debt of around 90 billion euros, full recovery will be a long time coming and certain things may not return to 'normal' at all.
So what distinguishes the potential winners from the likely losers?
A very natural human reaction to disasters is to shoot into 'shelter mode'. Think of hurricane season in America. Often, fleeing or taking shelter and hoping it passes quickly is the best solution. Yet a few hours after the eye of the hurricane, you see the first people already rebuilding. Man is often stronger than fate.
A topical illustrative example is the hospitality sector, one of the hardest hit sectors with virtually no turnover. And yet the first smart and decisive catering entrepreneurs are already stepping forward to focus on the post-crisis period, in addition to eliminating overdue maintenance. They are fighting as creatively as possible against financial ruin and fine-tuning their business models with e.g. a Lockdown Coffee Action, gift voucher actions, fancy dinners at home and beautiful mutual collaborations.
One no longer looks at all that is lost. People are again looking ahead to what wél can and what might even better can than ever.
