'The perfect match': Viviane van Vroenhoven further expands recruitment and executive search at Improven

Viviane van Vroenhoven has been active in the recruitment profession for more than 25 years. This month, she joined Improven to expand its recruitment and executive search services. "It's all about the perfect match, for both our client and our candidate," says Viviane. The secret behind that? "Real human connection."

Viviane van Vroenhoven regularly receives an app, phone call or LinkedIn message: 'Ha, what's up? I'm looking again, do you have anything nice for me?' Sometimes from people she hasn't spoken to in years.

"That's fun every time," she says. "I have built up so many warm contacts over the years. People I have helped find a nice job somewhere, but just as many candidates who decided not to go for the job after all."

She finds the latter group in particular special. "The fact that they also still manage to find me shows that I succeed in what I find most important: making sure candidates end up in an organisation where they feel completely at home. And that also means that sometimes you say: 'I don't think this is for you'. People appreciate and remember that honesty."

The power of connection

Bringing people and organisations together - now Viviane has been doing it for more than 25 years. And no matter how much things have changed in those years, the basics remain the same.

"It's really about investing in the relationship, the power of connection!" she stresses. "Keeping in touch with candidates and clients, showing genuine interest, inviting people to fun events and sticking to the agreements you make: if I say I'll call back before the end of the week, I will."

"The real secret may be having love for your craft," he says.

In all those years, Viviane worked for all types and sizes of organisations within recruitment. "Temporary employment agencies, headhunters, recruitment agencies - you name it. And I have mediated positions for all kinds of sectors. My backpack is well filled."

Asking the right questions

It helps her get to the bottom of what organisations and candidates are looking for. But as valuable as her experience is, Viviane says the most important key to making the right match remains simply asking the right questions.

"What is important to you in your next job? What should an employer offer? What are you allergic to? What are your future prospects? What do you still want to learn? Do you want to go higher or are you happy to just do what you are doing now? You should stay ask through."

It is also important to ask the client the right questions: "What do you as a client find important about the candidate? What core values does the ideal candidate possess? When is this recruitment and selection process completely successful for the organisation?"

Indeed, put like this, it sounds easy enough, but it requires genuine interest. "Perhaps the real secret is having love for your profession," indicates Viviane. "The passion to connect the right candidates and organisations."

"If a candidate leaves after only two months, it is of no use to anyone."

She is therefore not interested in as many matches as possible, but in the perfect matches. "That doesn't mean I'm only on the soft side," she nuances. "I really am results-driven. If a candidate leaves after only two months, it's no use to anyone. Neither do I, because such an organisation will think twice before hiring me again."

Additional impetus

Since this month, Viviane has been working for the Search & Interim branch from Improven, a consulting firm in finance, risk, IT and process and project management.

"At Improven Search & Interim, we build lasting relationships with clients and candidates," she indicates. "Clients see us as a business partner in interim, executive search and recruitment & selection issues in senior positions. And we help candidates find the ideal career move."

Viviane holds the role of Business Manager Recruitment & Selection. "To me is the honourable task of further developing recruitment and selection and executive search."

Interim is already big within Improven Search & Interim. Executive search and recruitment gets an extra boost with Viviane's arrival. This is also one of the things that attracted her to the role.

"I find it fantastic to pioneer and undertake in the field where my heart is. And the fact that I am not alone in this, but have a very powerful organisation with a huge network behind me, makes it all the more wonderful."

"We really are together at the bar. Everyone wants to help each other."

Not entirely coincidentally either: Improven's vision - improving by connecting - is right up Viviane's alley. "Indeed, that seems to have been conceived for me," she laughs. "And apart from describing my vision on recruitment and selection, it also fits perfectly with how we work together internally. We really are all in it together. Everyone wants to help each other."

"I have also worked in places with a cowboy mentality at times," she explains: "It's my customer, so my candidate and my turnover. That is unthinkable here within Improven."

Always look further

In line with Improven's expertise, Viviane focuses mainly on candidates and clients in the areas of finance, risk and IT. This includes finance and operations positions such as finance manager, operations manager, CFO and senior controller.

"In addition, our focus is on business-IT/data, risk & compliance and project and process management," Viviane adds. "This can be through a permanent or interim role. This again fits in with that collaborative spirit within Improven - we always look beyond!"
