Senior business controller physical domain at a medium-sized municipality in central Netherlands

Your role

We are looking for an experienced and proactive senior business controller to focus mainly on our physical domain. The Control team is organised into three domains, namely; Services, Social Domain and Physical Domain. The physical domain is, among other things, responsible for the management & maintenance of public space, investments in roads and sewerage, the major inner-city investments in the city, but also for implementing and shaping policy in areas such as culture, sports, economy and media. As Senior business controller, you are responsible for the broad financial control of the physical domain and are the financial content sparring partner of the management within this domain. The physical domain consists of seven financial and business controllers. In your role, you also provide functional and substantive guidance to these colleagues.

Your duties and responsibilities

  • You will advise the department manager and team managers on their broad business control and all major financial developments within the physical domain.
  • You are substantive contact for the team manager Control.
  • You are the substantive sparring partner for the domain colleagues and jump in where necessary.
  • You are responsible for the prioritisation, quality and completeness of control work within the physical domain.
  • You provide advice and support to proposers in drafting major administrative proposals.
  • You will participate in various projects taking place within the departments.

What do you bring and what competences are important?

  • You have wo work and thinking level complemented by an education in finance/economics.
  • At least 3 years of demonstrable work experience in a comparable senior position within the physical domain of a municipality. This could include a senior controller position with coordinating role in content and functional areas.
  • Knowledge of financial packages (Key2, PowerBI, LIAS) and general packages (Ibabs and case system) is a plus.
  • You have excellent written and oral expression skills in Dutch.

You will join the Control team of the Operations Department. This department supports line management and the board of this Municipality. You will join a team where flexibility, dedication and teamwork are important. The employees in the team are ambitious, professional and take initiative easily. You will work closely with the consultants in your own team and the other teams in the department.

We offer

  • Working week: 36 hours
  • Contract: Annual contract with intention of permanent employment.
  • Salary: Scale 13 of the CAO Municipalities (€5,850 - €7,705) gross p/m at 36 hours), depending on experience.
  • Provisions: Excellent pension accrual with ABP (employer pays 70% premium) and an additional safety net in case of death/incapacity.
  • Extras: Individual choice budget (IKB) of 17.05% per year
  • Public transport reimbursement: Paid parking applies around our locations. We are actively committed to sustainable mobility and therefore fully reimburse public transport (2nd class).
  • Development: Training opportunities through the Academy, with access to training courses from day one.
  • Work-life balance: Hybrid working is possible; but we expect you to spend at least half your time on site connecting with colleagues.
  • A VOG is part of the procedure.
