This week, It’s Value received the Outstanding New Partner 2026 Award from IBM Netherlands during the IBM Partner Ecosystem Summit Netherlands at the ARTIS Planetarium in Amsterdam. The award was presented in recognition of our work in the public sector, and for the way in which we help organisations achieve greater transparency, control and value from their technology investments.
The award ceremony under the starry sky of the planetarium was a fitting setting. Just like the universe, the possibilities of AI seem limitless. At the same time, AI entails new and often difficult-to-predict costs, such as computing power, licences, data and cloud usage. Anyone wishing to use AI responsibly must first know where to invest and what the returns will be.
This recognition ties in with an issue that is becoming increasingly pressing for large local authorities and government departments: the question is not whether savings should be made on IT, but where.
Public sector organisations are facing tighter budgets, performance targets and a growing reliance on the cloud, licences and external suppliers. For CIOs, this means two things: demonstrating the value delivered by IT, and making targeted savings without compromising the services provided to the public.
It starts with understanding:
- Which costs are associated with which application, service or policy area?
- Where are the overlaps, under-utilised licences and unused cloud capacity?
- Which investments demonstrably contribute to the organisation’s objectives?
